Embassy Brisbane is pleased to announce that Maria Pineda Amaro has been chosen as a Student Ambassador for Brisbane Marketing, supported by the Brisbane City Council.
Maria was presented with her award by The Right Honorable, Lord Mayor Councilor Campbell Newman at a prestigious ceremony held in the Mayor’s chambers.
Maria is tasked with promoting her Brisbane experience to potential international students. She will also be actively involved in leveraging a new ‘Study Brisbane’ website where she will create her own peer/peer networks, giving Brisbane education, lifestyle and leisure, exposure across the globe.
The application involved a submission of no more than one hundred words responding to key questions about why the entrant wanted to be an ambassador, and how they would showcase the great city of Brisbane to a first time visitor.
Thousands of applications were submitted and then screened. The successful applicants were then invited to attend an interview – where Maria really impressed the judges and shone.
Only 25 students were selected to represent Brisbane in the top 25 international markets, and we are very proud of Maria and her representation of the Latin America (Brazil and Colombia) markets.
