A great trip

Last week end I went to Sarasota with three of my friends. My friends had planned to spend the weekend there, and they asked me to go with them. To be honest, I had never heard of  Sarasota before going there!

It takes two and a half hours to get there. Sarasota is next to Tampa, and the place is known for its beautiful beaches. Last weekend the weather wasn't so good for going to the beach. It was very windy, so we decided to visit the Ringling Museum. We really enjoyed the museum. We visited the Circus Museum, the Art Museum and the house that the Ringling Family owned in Florida.

We couldn't go to the beach, but the detour to the Museum was worth it!

Hi Sonia

How interesting! I had no idea that the Ringling circus family were art collectors. I read that they owned 750 old masters. What were your favourite works and why? How did it compare to European museums?

By the way, your English is really good - you must be very pleased.

Ricard

Hi Ricard,
How are you doing?
The Museum was great! I specially liked the European Paintings ( specially those from Rubens and Van Dyck ). The Ringling family amassed an art collection of over 600 paintings!!The Museum was created in 1927 for the people of Florida. You are right, The Old Master collection, now includes approximately 750 paintings and it's the most important area of the Museum's holdings. You can also visit their venetien gothic mansion. I really liked it!!
The circus Museum was added in 1948. The visit was amazing!!I have never been in that kind of Museum. This Museum exhibits the history of the circus.

Are you planning to visit Florida?

Have a great day!!

Sonia
