I am Keita "Stupid River"

Hi, this is Keita Kawabata. This is the story of when I made a stupid mistake. It was when I was in the library and tried to get my own ID and e-mail address in order to use the internet in the library. I asked a librarian and he said that I could have them easily. The way to get an ID and e-mail account is the same as when you get an ID or account at sites on the internet. It is that you answer question after question (for example: what is your name? phone number? etc..). That's easy. I started answering one by one.

Now, I will tell you a bit of Japanese language in order to make clear what my mistake was. My family name is Kawabata. 'Kawa' means river and 'Bata' means rice field. Bata is pronunced similarily to 'Baka'. In Japanese, you can say "Baka" to a stupid person or a stupid thing. I suppose you are figuring out the meaning of the title of this blog entry, "I am Keita Stupid River". Well, let's go back to the library.

After I got my own ID and e-mail address, I tried to log in to the internet but I couldn't. I typed my password and ID again, but I couldn't log in. The librarian seemed to think that I made a common mistake that lots of people make when they are typing their personal information. "I did it!" he said, Blog_i_am_keita_river_stupidand explained my mistake. Guess what my ID was? It was "kawabaka", not "kawabata". The librarian was laughing. Fortunately, he is not Japanese. I pretended to be calm and gave him a smile as I was thinking that he couldn't understand the Japanese language.

Please be careful. We all make mistakes, but don't be a "Stupid River" like me. Ciao!

Are you an angler?

HaHaHa!!!!! It is so funny I've been ever.

Thank you for your message, guys!

Myf,
Last topic of my blog was really serious, so I tried to make it funny this time.

Yigit,
I didn't know your family name has funny meaning in your country. Most of young boys tease someone who has something special. Maybe I can guess your situation.

Tai,
I like your name! It's really cool. You like your name? Actually, I don't like my last name because it can be called "kawabaka" and is difficult to pronunce.

708,
What does angler mean? You meant "Stupid River" is like I am crazy about river? That's interesting! Actually, I like fishing ,but I am not crazy about river or fishing.

Lucy,
Hi, Lucy again! I am glad I could make you laugh. I guess, in Korea, there are names which have interesting sounds or that can be easily made mistake, aren't there?

Yes. There are names that we should pronounce carefully in Korea. For example, "Byun" has many meanings. One of them is just a family name. The other one can be a 'shit'. If you say 'Byun' with a strong intornation,it means a 'shit'. But i really envy you. Because if someone meet you and heard the episode of your last name, They will never forget you and your name in all their lives.

Lucy,
Thanks for your quick replying. That's interesting! I guess people who have 'Byun' name have experiences that some friends teased them. Actually, I've never called 'kawabaka(including 'stupid' meaning), so it was the first time to found out that I am 'Stupid River'.
Ha ha, interesting, anyway!

So your ID was corrected or not ? Next time your ID...

So your ID was corrected or not? Next time show me your ID...
